Following a first class degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Oxford, Dr. Lewis Dartnell completed a PhD at University College London. Lewis’ research is in the field of astrobiology and the search for life beyond Earth. He focuses on how microbial life, and signs of its existence, might survive the cosmic radiation in the dry dusty surface of Mars.
Alongside his research, Lewis writes regularly for publications such as New Scientist, BBC Focus, Cosmos, and has a monthly column in BBC Sky at Night magazine. Lewis also delivers frequent public science events, including venues like the Royal Institution, the Royal Albert Hall, and even music festivals and a cruise ship touring the Mediterranean. Lewis has appeared in TV shows such as ‘BBC Sky at Night’ and the international broadcast of ‘BBC Wonders of the Universe’.
