MJ Arlidge’s Eeny Meeny: the bestselling debut crime novel of 2014!
Tim Butcher’s The Trigger was picked as one of the ‘Best History Books’ of 2014 in the Sunday Times, Observer, Times and Telegraph, with the Times calling it ‘highly readable but profoundly researched … a bold exception to the deluge of First World War books.’
Tanya Byron’s The Skeleton Cupboard was the Bookseller’s ‘Non-fiction Book of the Year’.
Lewis Dartnell’s The Knowledge was picked as ‘Smart Thinking Book of the Year’ in the Sunday Times, as well as being a Times ‘Science Book of the Year’, and recommended by New Scientist. It was also one of Kobo’s ‘Non-Fiction Books of the Year’.
Elly Griffith’s The Outcast Dead was picked by Alison Light in the Guardian as the crime novel she’d like for Christmas.
Richard Kerridge’s Cold Blood was a lot of people’s ‘Nature Writing’ and ‘Memoir’ for 2014, with mentions in the Guardian, Times, Irish Times and Financial Times, with the Times calling it ‘engaging’ and ‘unforgettable’.
Olivia Laing’s The Trip to Echo Spring came out in the US, and was a notable book of the year in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Time.
Tania Unsworth’s The One Safe Place was picked by the Guardian as one of the best ‘Science Fiction and Fantasy Books’, who called it, ‘clever and unsettling … A highlight.’
Finally, another Kobo pick was Juliet West’s Before the Fall in their best of Historical Fiction round-up.
