Vanora Bennett studied Russian at Oxford University. She began her career as a journalist at Reuters, and covered the collapse of the Soviet Union before going on to serve as the Los Angeles Times’s Moscow correspondent, winning an US Overseas Press Club award for her writing on Russia. She now lives in London and has won the Orwell Prize for political writing for her work at The Times. Her novel, The White Russian, was published by Century in 2014.
